These days it seems like everyone on the internets has remixed a La Roux song and you may very well be tired of it by now. That’s totally understandable, but you’d be doing yourself a great disservice by skipping over this huge dubstep tune. Followers of the blob may recall Skrillex’s “Allejandro” Remix from early June and anyone who listened to that song knew that the electro producer’s first forray into dubstep would not be far off. Skrillex’s halftime drums on the hook of that Lady Gaga remix had dubstep written all over it and this new track is the logical sounding combination of his glitched out electro style with the signature characteristics that the dubstep genre is associated with. Enough talk, this is some absolutely epic shit right here.
More crazyness from the Californian producer. This is from about a month ago when all those Black Eyed Peas remixes were released and it is definitely the best of the bunch.
New Caspa instrumental called “Back for the First Time”, but apparently the version with Mr. Hudson is titled “Love Never Dies”. I just call it awesome. Here’s the video.
The lack of posts is all due to the fact that I’m DJing 5 nights a week right now. One of which is a rock and roll party (see here), while the others are house music some nights and hip hop on others. It’s a dizzying amount of music to keep up with. Also, I’m playing the Carnecelona 2010 festival this friday so I’ve got to get my set together for that. Just saying it’s not laziness or a lack of material, but rather that I grind hard as fuck. Anyway, the remixes for Kelis’ single “4th of July (Fireworks)” dropped like ten days ago and include productions from Calvin Harris and Rusko. Calvin’s is part typical funkyness that we’re used to hearing from him and part distorted electro fuckery. I don’t deem it worthy of being posted on the blob, but go ahead and google it if you want to hear it that bad. The real gem is Rusko’s bassline driven dubstep banger that balances Kelis’ vocals out with some awesome 8-bit bleeps and bloops and the occasionally well placed Lil Jon sample. It fucking rocks.
Nothing new here. I’m pretty sure this came out in like October. Either way, it fits right in with dubstep week here on the blob and I’m working on a remix of it so it’s been stuck in my head for a minute. The track made its way on to the Crookers debut LP two months ago, an album that was probably way less housey than anyone imagined. Anyway, keep your eyes open as I’ll post my remix real, real soon.
It’s hard to believe that it’s taken this long to happen, but Rusko has finally put out his debut album. I feel like this dude has constantly been dropping major dubstep anthems since like 2006. Whereas those were all singles and EP’s this here is a full legnth joint that we can sink our teeth into. Standouts include the bouncy dubstep “Oy!” featuring the Crookers, the dancehall (huh?!) joint “Rubadub Shakedown”, and “Woo Boost”. The latter is the gem of the whole album. Squelchy synths, sirens, and huge bass. As part of unofficial dubstep week here on the Chazz Rockwell Blob.
