I stay fashionably late, as usual. I’m proud to present the second entry in the Wax Dat Ass Wednesdays mix series. Recorded this past Friday at Voyeur night club in Philly, it’s from early in the night and is loaded with some very funky house tracks. I absolutely love this track. Groovy drum loop partnered with a real fat synth. It also comes along with the best music video I’ve seen all year. For real. Okay, the headline is a little misleading, but the reality of the situation is still pretty cool. Check out this trailer for Project Nim, the documentary that has garnered absolutely rave reviews. It’s your standard little trailer and then BOOM, in drops Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s composition, “Perpetuum Mobile”, which is none other than the sample Avicii uses in “Fade Into Darkness”. I embedded the video to start at the 1 minute mark, just before it drops in. Avicii is everywhere. You can not hide.
I’ve been teasing at this for weeks and today is the day it begins. The Chazz Rockwell Blob is proud to present: Wax Dat Ass Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, for next only Lord knows how many, I’m going to be sharing 30 minute live recordings from my best club sets. Take them to the gym, out on a run, on a picnic, to a party, or make sweet love to it. Either way, I promise you’ll be able to Wax Dat Ass across a variety of situations by the time this is over. First up, 30 minutes from the peak hour at my going away party at Bikini night club in Barcelona. It was a crazy night. Sorry if you feel like the Martin Solveig and Rihanna drag on a little too long in the middle. They weren’t so played out at the time. Anywho, this starts off with uptempo and dancey shit for the first 22 minutes then finishes strong with a whole bunch of hip hop for the final 13 minutos. Lots of tracks jammed into this one.

Here’s an absolutely astonishing video of up and coming producer Madeon triggering a huuuge mashup (live?!!) of 39 of his/everyone’s favorite songs. Some stellar tracks are sampled such as Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic”, Bag Raider’s “Shooting Star”, Justice’s “Phantom Part 2″, and many, many more. Oh yeah, and this young Frenchie is only 17 years old. Wow.

Avicii is the biggest producer on the planet right now. Period. 12 days ago he posted this preview for his track “Fade Into Darkness”, which is a vocal version of his track titled “Penguin” from March. Two days ago some dude named Alex Prigenzi put out an edit of the vocal version on his SoundCloud. Not sure if he ripped the preview off Avicii’s page or how he put the edit together, but it definitely sounds good. Either way, this will more than suffice for now. Enjoy.

A year ago to the day I returned to Barca from a 5 day bender in Ibiza. It seems appropriate that I post some house music on the blob again. I won’t go innnn just yet, as it’s late and I’ve got to get moving to go DJ soon; however, here’s a joint from the Bingo Players. It’s staple in my disco house sets.
