Action Bronson’s Dr. Lecter is still standing strong as my favorite hip hop album in 2011. Here’s his new visual for track 7 off the LP, “Brunch”.
Now let’s catch up on all things Bronsalini since the album dropped. First, a cut off the upcoming Wu Tang album, Legendary Weapons, that drops on July 26th (or last week if you have internet access).
Ghostface Killah ft. Action Bronson & Termanology – Meteor Hammer
This next one is a perfect example of why I’m such a fan of this dude. Also, best song title of 2011?
Action Bronson – Consensual Rape
Here’s one from the Bronson meets Statik Selektah project
A year ago to the day I returned to Barca from a 5 day bender in Ibiza. It seems appropriate that I post some house music on the blob again. I won’t go innnn just yet, as it’s late and I’ve got to get moving to go DJ soon; however, here’s a joint from the Bingo Players. It’s staple in my disco house sets. They just released the visuals to go along with the song so enjoy that. Major summertime vibes.
And the download link:
Bingo Players – Cry (Just A Little) (Original Mix)
It took Kanye long enough, but here’s the official video for “Monster”. I like it a lot.
Just as a sidenote, you have no idea how difficult it was to get that video off of Yeezy’s website and embedded on here. All sorts of looking into page sources and playing with html. Nerd alert! A lesser man would have just settled for the shitty youtube rips or a video polluted with advertising, but not me.
However, Hype can do whatever the fuck he wants so long as he keeps putting Rihanna in outfits like the one she’s wearing in this video. Just look at all that side boob, and that’s my favorite kind of boob! Now that the obligatory Kanye post is out of the way, it’s music time.
Infinitely better than the original. It’s off of the Travis Barker mixtape that just dropped. You can download that here. This track is also worth hearing:
A lot of you muhfuckas have been commenting about expired links. That’s your fault for sleeping on shit and my fault for not re-posting links when asked. I’ll be a good now, I promise. Now here’s some good music for dat ass, the clubby shit will come later in the week so stay tuned.
Is it possible that this thing will actually turn out well? I’ve got to say that I had low expectations, but the visuals seem to work pretty well in tandem with the music (the chorus at 1:30 is fly). French subtitles and Nicki Minaj narrating in a British accent definitely sound cheesy on paper, but how dare me for doubting Nicki in any regard. The absolutely awesome song in this preview is the RZA produced “Dark Fantasy” (co-produced by Kanye and No I.D.) and it’s the first track on Yeezy’s upcoming album to be released November 22nd. The 40 minute short film/long music video airs on BET, MTV, and MTV 2 at 8 PM ET tonight, 2 AM Barcelona time.
An interesting tidbit for followers of my site, the preview ends in the middle of the second verse just before Kanye goes into his rap from the BET cypher.
After posting up all the cyphers from the latest BET Awards it was only natural that I went back and watched all the other ones from years past. Last year, Black Thought, Mos Def, and Eminem definitely took the cake for best of the bunch.
If you’re thinking that incredible Black Thought verse sounds familiar that’s because it’s pretty much verbatim from the first and second verse of The Roots track “Doin’ It Again” off their last album (their actual last album, not that John Legend nonsense). Even cooler is this behind the scenes video taken after the BET video was shot last year. It features Mos Def getting his Black Thought fanboy on and spitting “75 Bars” off The Roots’ Rising Downin it’s entirety.
In that second video above Mos Def explains that “75 Bars” exemplifies the core of The Roots with ?uestlove’s drumming and Black Thought on the mic. Here’s a track off of The Tipping Point (most slept on Roots record?) that does just the same.
These cyphers remain the only reason to watch google the BET Hip Hop Awards. Here’s all of them in order of awesomeness.
First: Pusha T, Big Sean, Cyhi Da Prynce, Common, Kanye West
“Fresh air, rollin down the window. Too many Urkels on your team that’s why your Wins-low.” – Yeeeezy
“I’m Big L, Notorious, Big Pun, Sean Carter, Sean Combs and Connery all in one. Whoever told you sky’s the limit is looking dumb, cause I’m 22 and I’m moonwalking on the sun.” – Big Sean
I’m sure by now everyone has seen the video with the lyrics to this song, but here’s the offish version. I guess this is the 2010 “Hey Ya”, but at least Cee-Lo has vowed to return to rapping on the upcoming Goodie Mob reunion album, though it doesn’t have a release date yet.
